Are You Resistant to Being Consistent? - How to overcome resistance to business consistency

Ever feel like consistency is a struggle in your business or personal life?

In this episode and post, we're unpacking why that resistance shows up and how to shift into a rhythm that feels more aligned, so you can grow with ease and flow.

Why consistency matters in business growth

We'll explore:

- Why consistency is critical for business growth and your own personal growth

- Why you may feel some resistance to it, and

- How you can shift into a healthier, more sustainable pattern so you can build your business with more ease.

Masculine vs Feminine energy when getting things done

Some of us are used to doing things even when we don't feel like it and just pushing through, which is a very masculine approach

And some of us have completely rebelled against that and have a very feminine approach where we only take action when we feel like it

And neither are wrong but if you're not getting the results you desire then this is the episode for you.

Why is Consistency Critical in Business Growth?

It builds business momentum and trust—both with clients and with yourself.

When we're inconsistent, it's easy to lose focus, direction, and even confidence in our ability to succeed.

Consistency doesn't mean doing everything all the time; it means showing up in a sustainable way and that's going to be different for everyone.

Common Reasons for Consistency Resistance

Here are some common reasons why you may resist consistency:

- Fear of failure: If you're consistent and things still don't work out, it feels like proof you're not "enough."

- Perfectionism: Waiting for the "perfect" conditions before taking consistent action.

- Overwhelm: Trying to do too much at once without clear priorities can make consistency feel impossible.

- Lack of belief: Not truly believing that the actions will pay off, so you self-sabotage by not showing up.

- Fear of burning out.

This is how my resistance shows up.

You see I'm trying to build my coaching business in a completely different way than how I built my previous business.

That business was built through blood, sweat and tears, pushing and hustling and while I made a lot of money, I got completely burned out.

So with Space and Grace coaching I'm learning how to show up consistently in a way that doesn't freak my nervous system out.

I'm learning to unhook from my old outdated programming and conditioning that makes me push hard and then exhaust myself.

And I'll be the first to tell you that I haven't figured it all out yet. I'm experiencing a massive shift in identity and my poor terrified brain is freaking out.

Navigating Consistency Challenges:

Another common reason you may resist consistency is that you

- Don't like feeling boxed in or you're worried you'll get bored:

I'm a manifesting generator (in human design) so I have a constant flow of ideas and want to act on them all immediately and I get bored easily.

Something I've found helpful is to commit to the core focus, the bigger picture of my coaching business, and allow myself space and flexibility to pivot on the smaller details like marketing strategies, and the length and details of my offers.

So if I offer you something you want, don't wait because I might change my mind!

In the past I would've seen this as flaky and wrong because I've been conditioned to work hard and push through no matter how I feel, but now, I'm learning to embrace it and be more flowy so I can continue to serve my ideal coaching clients in an aligned and confident way.

Reframing Consistency as Self-Care

If you're feeling resistance, it might be a sign of needing a different, more aligned approach and shifting your mindset.

Consistency often feels like pressure.

And you may be avoiding tasks because they're uncomfortable or daunting.

So I'd love you to consider reframing Consistency as self-care: Instead of seeing it as a chore, you could choose to view it as a way of honoring your vision.

And get into the habit of being honest and compassionate with yourself.

It takes courage to grow and expand and your brain will try everything it can to keep you safe and your body might join the party too by getting sick as a way of avoiding growth.

Be sure to clear your brain out, at least once a day through meditation.

It’s as easy as finding a 10-minute guided meditation on youtube or any mindfulness app and just sitting or lying down and listening. That’s it.

Practical productivity strategies to stay consistent without burning out

- Prioritize the most impactful tasks:

Stop trying to do all the things

- Progress over perfection:

You could commit to small, sustainable steps rather than trying to do everything perfectly. Just start with bite-sized actions that will build momentum.

- Create some structure:

Set up some masculine structure or a standard operating procedure for the task so you don't have to faff around every time trying to remember the steps to getting it done.

This will allow you more space and energy for your creativity to flow and for it to be fun!

- Consider your own personal energy levels:

Consider scheduling tasks for a time of day, week or month when you typically feel your best, have the most energy and enthusiasm.

- Give yourself a ramp up

Set yourself up for success beforehand by having a ramp up to get in the zone.

This can be anything that makes you feel great! Dancing, patting your dog, going for a walk, singing etc

- Planning your activities by the lunar cycle

I teach moon phase planning because it's a beautiful way of aligning your activities with the different phases of the moon and prioritizing your self care so you have the energy to get the more challenging things done.

I'll teach you how in the next episode.

- Batching and time blocking:

This can allow time for making a focused and consistent effort.

- Get support:

Find an accountability partner or a coach who can help keep you on track and remind you of your vision when your motivation dips.

If need someone to help you stay accountable to your vision, get out of your own way and assist you in moving into that next level of growth and success, let's jump on a quick call to see if we're a good fit.

To recap:

Consistency is essential for business growth, and it's best to expect resistance.

We've explored how it shows up and how to shift it.

Remember, consistency doesn't have to mean doing it all—it's about showing up in a sustainable, aligned way that protects both your business and your well-being.

I encourage you to reflect on where you feel resistance and to try some of the strategies shared today.
